RE: Rockwood Length Question

I agree with skipnchar, you cannot go by the model numbers. My 28DD has a 25' box with a total length of 29'. If anybody asks me I say 29', just cause there is 29' of trailer behind my Expedition while towing, and when parked there is 4' of a-frame to run into. Mike

RE: SUV Hauling

I would make sure that the hitch you are getting is an Equilizer brand with the built in sway Equal-i-zer not just an equilizing hitch. There are alot of folks here that really like the Equal-i-zer and swear by it. Pulling a 27' TT with a 113" wheelbase SUV can be done, just make sure that your towing equipment is up to the job. Such as tires, brakes, cooling system and yourself. For additional tips, look here: RV Towing Tips Good luck, have fun, and stay safe! Mike

RE: Your latest campground visitor?

http://i38.tinypic.com/a5qmw.jpg you have to really look for my visitor in the shadows of the trees...see it? I would watch out for any racoon that is out in broad daylight, even if it is keeping in the shadows. Last time I ran into a racoon in the daylight, it was very sick!! The park ranger later shot it and said that it was probably rabid. Mike

RE: TT suggestions? 2007 Tahoe ___ updated: we got one!

I would suggest that being new to towing, you might want to read up on towing. I know that I did after we bought our SUV and TT, and wish that I had done so before we bought. Here are some sights that have been helpful: RV Towing Tips Towing Weights at Klenger.net TT Hitch set-up procedure Sherline Guide Good Luck! Enjoy your time with the kids, they grow up so dang fast that before you know it, they are in the camper next to you with their own kids! Mike

RE: How long of a trailer can I tow

If cost is the big factor: 1. Add an additional sway bar $75.00 2. Reese Reese SC Weight Distribution $375.00 3. Equil-i-zer about $400.00 new, $250.00 used. 4. Reese Dual Cam Straightline $450.00 new, $300.00 used 5. Pullrite 70 or 90 $2000.00 new $750.00 used 6. Propride 3P $2400.00 new (none used yet) 7. Hensley Arrow $2400.00 new(on sale) $1500.00 used If sway control is the factor, I would reverse the above order exept 5,6 and 7 are probably equal when it come to sway control. I have used: 1. No sway control on trailers - scary even with a 16' Scamp 2. 1 sway bar on 16' Scamp no sway at all. 3. Reese Dual Cam on 28' Cherokee did ok. 4. Hensley Arrow (Used $1500.00) No sway tows Great. RE: opinions of forest river

We have the 28DD, great trailer. Well built and no problems. The only thing that we wish was that we went with the 28A+ Mike

RE: Boats and such

Barry, It is a 1983 17' Bonniecraft by Fibercraft with a 1984 Johnson 115. I cannot find out much about this company, they manf. the boats for a while then went under. Mike

Boats and such

I love this forum and have learned so much even though I thought that I was an experienced "camper". But now that I am also a boat owner, I would like to find a boating forum similar to this. Does anybody have a recommendation? Thanks Mike

RE: nice fathers day weekend but still slow at the CG...

The girls and I went camping, left Mom home to clean/rearrange her craft area. The campground was full up! Kids everywhere, having fun laughing and running. Did have the unfortunate experience to have the rudest, loudest, most disrespectful, inconsiderate family camping that I have seen in the sight across the road. But it still was a great weekend, had some weather roll through on Saturday night, but only for about 30 min. then it was clear skys again. Mike

RE: Camping World Service??

Was the jack an Ultra-Fab? You could have and maybe still should call them and describe your problem to them. I did and I had a new jack there 2 days later. Mike

RE: Electric Power Jacks

The jacks come in different weight capacities, and 2 different tube sizes. IMHO, get the largest weight capacity. You are not just lifting your TT tongue, you are lifting the rear end of your TV. The tube sizes are 2" and 2 1/4". I have the UltraFab 3500, it has the 2 1/4 tube and my trailer had a 2" hole. When I went to install, I used a 1 1/2 drum sander on my drill and made the hole larger. Total install time less than an hour. Mike

RE: 2007 Cherokee 25 DD

Scott, I have all the brochures for Cherokee, 2004 through 2007. There is no 25DD listed anywhere. I have a 28DD (box is 25' long). And there is a 23DD but I looked at all the brochures and no 25DD, only a 25DD+. That said, we love our Cherokee. I sometimes wish that we had gone for the 28A+ with the dual slides. We paid aprox 11,000.00 in 2005 for our 28DD. I would look at other dealers, and also check ebay and craigslist. Mike

RE: Has anyone, revamped a Casita?

Bella, When I redid our Scamp, I had to replace some of the Ensolite under the seats. I used the thick shelf liner from Home Depot. It is about 1/8 thick foam, and came in rolls 2' wide and 8 or 10' long. I used 3M Spray Adhesive to mount it. If that does not work for you, take a look at the floor runners that come on a roll. Or maybe you can look at vinyl that is used to make boat seats. What ever you come up with, good luck! Mike

RE: enclosed underbelly aerodynamics

I enclosed my underbelly about a year after getting it. I can't remember any difference in the way it pulled or the mpg. It does make all the difference as to what kind of weather you can camp easily in. Mike Boilermakers Local 592 What material did you use to enclose the underbelly of your TT? We frequently camp in cold weather so any added insulation would be great. I had some aluminum and industrial insulation from a business I had. You could do it with the 29guage steel from lowes if needed. That wouldn't be too heavy and then just use rolls of insulation. I still try to skirt my trailer when temps get below zero. Mike Boilermaker Local 592 Mike, Do you have pics that you would care to share? Thanks Mike

RE: HELP!! Flooded TT

Well, last night I slit the belly wrap the entire length of the TT on the left side, insulation was damp in all of it, soaking wet under the tub (in rear of TT) and at the very front corner. Yanked all of it out. Made 4 small slits in the center of the TT no wetness at all! Now I just need to figure out how to "reseal" the bellywrap. Any ideas????

RE: HELP!! Flooded TT

If you have a dehumidifier get in there and get it running along with the fans, if you don’t find one or rent one. Don Man I did not even think of that, gonna do that right now! Thanks

RE: HELP!! Flooded TT

Oh brother.. have you asked your tt maker what to do? Just happened 20 min ago. Tried to call dealer, they are closed for the night.

HELP!! Flooded TT

Need some advise on what to do! While flushing the water system, the tub became plugged and overfilled, flooding the TT. The underbelly wrap was full of water (just on the left side, TT is angled to that side). Insulation under the floor is soaked. I know that I will need to pull all the insulation out and replace. Once that is done, how do I reseal or resew the underbelly wrap? What else will I need to do? I have fans running in the TT, there did not appear to be much water on the floor, just in the underbelly. Any and all advise welcome! Thank you in advance!!!!! Mike

RE: advise requested

I would 1st try and get the owner of the dealership assistance with the issue. If that fails I would get the local TV/Radio station and newspapers to do a story on the "dealer". It is amazing the response/service you can get when they know that they are getting free advertising (good or bad). Mike
